What’s hot right now: In the garden

Each summer brings new designs and exciting trends to our gardens, and now that we’ve had our first taste of sunshine this year, it’s time to plan your garden look and feel for the months ahead. If you’re looking for a little inspiration on how to transform your garden into the ultimate outdoor space, here’s an insight to what’s currently on trend.

亚博电竞网站Embracing the Mediterranean lifestyle and making our outdoor space an extension of the indoors is hugely on trend this year - it’s no longer about bringing the outside in, or the inside out, but rather merging the two together. With many of us spending more time at home and flexible living being more important than ever, we understand that your garden needs to also meet several requirements. It not only has to be a haven for quiet contemplation but also a play area for the kids, a place to work-out, and an entertainment space for socially distanced get togethers.

Luxury furniture can be a real showstopper for your garden, so considered purchases and timeless designs are key. While there has been an increased focus on sustainability, and with the use of natural materials often at the forefront of people’s minds when selecting furniture, it’s really all about the comfort! Adding plush seating pads and cushions that you’d often associate with a living room décor to an upcycled palette bench or sofa creates the ultimate outdoor space to sink into and relax.

Other accessories that you’d often find in living rooms such as rugs, soft throws, and lanterns have also started to make their way outside to compliment the outdoor space, complete with a firepit for when the sun goes down.

During lockdown, there’s been an increase in demand for hot tubs, which is a popular trend set to continue throughout 2020. There’s something satisfying about relaxing in hot, bubbling water and with more people spending an increased time at home, transforming your garden into a space you can enjoy during all-weathers has become essential. Not only do hot tubs offer a release from modern-day stress and provide a little ‘me time’, it also creates an aspect of luxury to your garden – and adding some lights and ornamental decoration to your surroundings will create a truly relaxing atmosphere.

亚博电竞网站Hammocks are also hugely popular for those looking to create a tranquil spot to unwind and soak in the sun on a hot summer’s day. However, in light of the unpredictable British weather, parasols and umbrellas are also on the up – they not only keep you dry when the heavens open, but they also provide cover from the direct sunlight. Whilst there a whole host of designs, an overhanging parasol is the new ‘in thing’ as it not only looks classy, but it provides the perfect amount of shade without encroaching on your socialising space.

Whilst you may have an outdoor space to relax and rejuvenate, more often than not there’s a place to cook as well. A full outdoor kitchen set up, complete with a barbecue, seating area and accessories are definitely on people’s agendas when transforming their outdoor space. Pizza ovens are currently one of the hottest outdoor cooking trends, either to compliment the barbecue or as an alfresco meal option of their own.

In addition to the food station, why not set up and outdoor bar as well? They’re starting to pop up all over the place!

亚博电竞网站For the budding gardener, ‘grow your own’ is certainly big right now as more people look to build a herb garden or grow basic vegetables. With veganism on the rise, coupled with rising food prices and an increased appreciation of organic produce, it’s no surprise that more people are getting a little green fingered and starting to produce their own food where they can. It’s also a great pastime to get young kids involved with and allows them to discover new vegetables. Herb gardens also smell fantastic and there’s no better feeling than picking your own fresh herbs for cooking, or as a garnish in some drinks.
